For seven years my website has been called Perfect Pomeranians (PerfectPoms), but I must apologize for having few Pom puppies available at the moment. Quite by accident, I've drifted into breeding primarily Chihuahua puppies.
Why did I shift towards having Chihuahua puppies ? Well, my two Pomeranian mothers got older and both are now spade and my Pomeranian stud has become less "stud-ly." (Sushi is pretty - but he has produced few puppies lately. One of the few puppies he has fathered recently is Hammy Hampster - you can see her sitting in the food bowl in the photo on the right ------> ). And then I began to notice I wasn't happy with the quality of the photos I take of my Poms because any time they moved or when the wind was blowing it caused their fur to be blurry - even at high shutter speeds. (And I became frustrated that even my best camera wouldn't autofocus properly if the focus sensor was pointed only toward their fur - I had to keep the focus sensor on a more contrasty area of the dog such as their face - and that is hard to do with tiny dogs if they are running around.) Pomeranians are my first love (so much so that I sometimes shed a tear when I see a really good show quality Pom walking around) but I found I had to spend a large amount of time grooming my dogs before taking their pictures if I wanted them to look good, and this used up a large part of my photography time. I would have to constantly stop taking pictures to wipe sleep out of their eyes and give them a quick combing. And then one day someone wanted one of my most beautiful, rare, tiny black Pom pups (and three other people were fighting over getting that gorgeous pup) - and they offered to trade me a Chihuahua mother and father breeding pair and two of their puppies for that Pom pup. I couldn't say no. (And in the back of my mind I worried about what they would do with the parents if they were unwanted.) And then, not too long after that, someone else that I knew had to retire from breeding Chihuahuas. She had several Chihuahua mothers that needed a home. So, suddenly, Perfect Pomeranians is now mostly all about Chihuahuas. (And Chihuahuha's are just so much easier to photograph. Their photos seem to just naturally come out clearer and sharper than the photos of my Poms.) So, I'm sorry - those of you who are looking for Poms - I will have a few more Pom puppies soon.
About my Puppies
You will find my puppies have unique temperaments because I spend ALL my time raising and training them and I frequently take them out to the park to take photos of them - sometimes for as many as 7 or 8 hours a day. I don't think you will find any puppies anywhere that have had the huge variety of socialization experiences that I provide my pups. I train all my young "kids" to come instantly when I call and as you can tell from my many photos - my puppies stay right with me and are probably among the best trained dogs you will ever meet. I spend many, many hours with each of my puppies and train them to be extremely polite and well-behaved. (One of the early training exercises I find useful is to sit in the middle of my puppies with a freshly cooked chicken and teach them that the only way they get any is if they sit quietly and look at me when I call their name. You would be amazed at how quickly they learn their names when tasty chicken is the reward.) My puppies get all the love, attention, handling and very important socialization they require to become healthy, well adjusted members of your family.
As you can see by feedback in the Recommendations, (2), (3), (4) section of my website, my puppy buyers constantly tell me that my puppies are like NO other dog they have ever seen. I have such a deep connection with my dogs that for 12 years I've been able to safely walk my (4 pound) adult dogs ANYWHERE - on ANY downtown street - WITHOUT LEASHES - and my dogs stay right with me. I'd never suggest you try this with your pup if there is a car anywhere within a 100 yards of you, but I think you will find that much of my training will transfer over to you as the new owner and I've been told many times that my puppies almost magically respond to their new owners wishes.
Why are my puppies more expensive ?
(My full-time job is socializing, raising and training my puppies to become incredibly well behaved. Believe it or not, I have very little trouble taking my adult dogs and many of the pups everywhere I go. They are almost without exception, so well behaved that I can take them with me when I go shopping, to the sun tan parlor, and even into restaurants. You might be amazed that most of my puppies will sit perfectly quietly on a chair beside me (and go to sleep) while I eat. Now of course some people will disapprove of this, but my pups are usually better behaved than many children in these restaurants or stores.) All this exposure to many people and a great variety of situations makes my pups extremely unique in their comfort level around people and in situations that most dogs cannot handle. I think this exceptional one-of-a-kind training adds a lot to their value. By the time they leave me you will find my puppies are among the best trained dogs you have ever seen.
(A friend of mine who liked my dogs and came out with me to the park all the time couldn't afford one of my dogs (sadly, she only earned minimum wage), so she bought the cheapest Pom puppy she could find - and then she kept asking me what was wrong with her dog. She wondered why her puppy wouldn't stay with her or sit on her lap or show her ANY affection at all. Sadly, she didn't understand the difference between puppy mill dogs and home-raised puppies.)
Puppy Care Package
Remember that my puppies have been home raised, which ensures that they will have the best possible temperaments. Most of them are very friendly and will run up to you to greet you (especially if you talk to them). You may notice a huge difference in the attitudes of my puppies compared to those from a pet store which (you can almost be sure) came from a puppy mill. (Puppies have a "sensitive" developmental period when they are young, and if they don't have frequent positive contact with loving, gentle human "parents" when they are between 5 and 15 weeks of age then they will NEVER properly bond with people later in their lives. You can never completely overcome this deficit later in their life - no matter what you do.)
You might be able to find a cheaper puppy than one of mine - but I don't think you can find a better one.
Health Guarantee
It is very important that you let your new puppy get enough water and rest. Teacup puppies only have enough stamina to play for about half hour (when they are 8 weeks old), and then they need to sleep. If during the first week that you have them, you carry them around with you for the WHOLE day without letting them have water every hour or two, or quiet time to sleep, then they can suffer dehydration, exhaustion or low blood sugar. These can be very serious conditions in a very small puppy.
